CAP Breakfast Talk: “Let’s Talk About Sex: Sex Therapy for Non-Sex Therapists” with Deb Azorsky, MA, LPC

Join us at BPI for the Colorado Association of Psychotherapists (CAP) breakfast talk on Thursday, October 17, 8 to 10 am. Deb Azorsky will be talking about “Sex Therapy for Non-Sex Therapists.” She’s a knowledgeable expert and a great speaker! And CAP is a great place to network. Bring business cards and materials – we’ll provide a table. $10 for breakfast and talk.
Talk is at the Boulder Psychotherapy Institute: 1140 Lehigh Street, Boulder, CO 80305. Here’s a link with Directions: https://www.boulderpsych.com/directions.php. You can register at the Colorado Association for Psychotherapists website.
Important: Please park across the street on the south side of Bear Creek Park. This is a residential neighborhood, and we need to keep the neighbors happy.
The Talk: “Our previous therapist Never asked us about our sex life.” I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve heard this in the last 16 years as a couple’s therapist. Clients seem relieved if not a little dumbfounded by the ease with which I pose the inquiry: “Tell me a little or a lot about your erotic life.” Or “What’s your sex life look like these days?” There are so many ways to engage in the conversation.
In this talk, we will explore individually, in dyads, and in large group discussion how to create more comfort with ourselves and our clients in engaging in the conversation and exploration of sex and sexuality. We will also discuss the large lexicon of sexual terminology so that definitions and usage are more clear.
The Presenter: Deb Azorsky is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Boulder, Colorado with a Master’s degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University and a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. She is also Adjunct Faculty at Naropa University in Boulder, CO where she teaches graduate counseling students a course in Human Sexuality. In 2016, Deb co-authored a chapter in Shadows & Light (Volume 1: Principles and Practices) Theory, Research and Practices in Transpersonal Psychology, Transpersonal Sexualities: A Paradigm Beyond the Normative  In private practice since 2000, her field of specialization is sex therapy. Professional credentials include: MA in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology, Naropa University, 2002; Certified Gestalt Therapist, Gestalt Institute of the Rockies, 2002; Certified Level 1 EMDR Therapist, 2004; Certified Sex Therapist and member of AASECT; Adjunct Faculty Naropa University; member NCSF – National Coalition for Sexual Freedom and WPATH – World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
